These unseen wounds have contributed to a lower quality of life, emotional instability and a lack of social engagement as seen in communities across the nation. Camp Shield is working to address these wounds and improve the lives of female veterans.

Veterans Yoga Project is on a mission to support recovery and resilience among our veterans, active duty military members, their families, and communities. We are committed to providing these tools and training in Safe, Predictable, and Controlled environments (SPaCe). VYP-trained instructors teach over 100 free yoga classes each week for veterans and their families.

Associate Director Veterans Services

Alicia Marsh has been on staff at American University since 2012. She currently helps military-connected students use the VA Education benefits they’ve earned towards a degree at AU. Alicia previously served as Assistant Director of AU Central assisting students with questions concerning financial aid, student accounts and registration. Alicia has been helping students finance their education for over 15 years in total working previously as a Student Services Counselor at AU and a financial aid counselor at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Dymeah Casey has been a part of American University’s community since January of 2020. They first came to American University to complete their undergraduate degree in International Studies while also working in the Veterans Services Office as a work-study student. They also served for 9 years in the Army National Guard and was honorably released from service in February of 2020. Being a recently separated Veteran and student, Dymeah finds working in their role as Veterans Services Coordinator to be extremely rewarding. They are excited to help American University’s Veteran and military affiliated student population as they navigate the transition to life as an American University Eagle.
